A PERVERT who tried to lure two young girls into his car has been jailed for 12 years.

Michael Anderson, 42, was sentenced to 12 years for inciting a child into a sex act, and he will be under supervision for a further two years when he gets out, Leeds Crown Court heard.

"Three psychiatric reports agree you pose a continued risk to children and young girls in particular," judge Peter Benson told Anderson yesterday.

The court heard how one of the reports expressed serious concerns that if let out the level of Anderson's offending could increase and lead to "sexualised violence".

A York jury convicted Anderson, of Willow Glade, Huntington, York, of two charges of inciting a child into sexual activity in December last year.

Following the convictions, Judge Benson, worried about how dangerous Anderson was to children, promised to lock him up for a very long time and ordered a psychiatric report.

The court heard how on September 1, 2004, Anderson was driving around the area where he lived in Huntington in his car and asked an eight-year-old girl on her way to buy sweets from the shop to get into his vehicle.

Half an hour later he approached a ten-year-old girl. In both cases, the girls got away.

Anderson's barrister, Nicholas Barker, described his client as a "social misfit".

He said: "He has significant problems and he recognises that at this stage in time he can't deal with them.

"He sees himself as a risk and realises that risk would not dissipate for some time.

"He is a misfit both physically - he suffers from a deformed shoulder and is hard of hearing - and he has been unable to form proper relationships both with the opposite sex and within his peer group which has made him become isolated."

Anderson was living at home with his parents at the time the offences were committed, but the court heard his mother had since died of cancer earlier this year and his father, who used to live in Huntington, had moved away from York.

Anderson was put on the sex offenders register for life.
