SO, Charles Hunt can think of a book which has been more popular with people than Harry Potter (Letters, September 26). Of course he can.
If, indeed, it's the Bible he's alluding to, then I've got some news for him.
Agatha Christie, above, who died in 1976, has outsold both the Bible and Shakespeare: over two billion copies of her 70-plus novels and innumerable short stories, not to say 14 plays, and four nonfiction books.
If estimates run true, she will overtake the Bible in all-time sales sometime next century.
I've read a number of Christie's stories and they are far more believable than the Bible.
