LACK of consideration for other road users by ignorant drivers of heavy farm vehicles persists on the A19 York to Selby road, causing long tailbacks of up to 40 vehicles for lengthy periods. This causes severe delays for other road-users who take risks because of the delays.
The drivers of these farm vehicles have obviously never been instructed in road behaviour, described in rule 145 of the Highway Code as follows:
"Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow moving vehicle, check your mirrors frequently and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass". There are laybys on this road and very large grass verges.
This situation regularly occurs on the A19 and drivers daily become frustrated by some drivers' lack of common sense who create extra hazards on a very busy road.
