YORK City Knights have bolstered their pack for their first season in LHF National League One by signing two of Oldham's star players, Tere Glassie and Jonathon Wilson.

The double move, following hot on the heels of Phil Hasty's arrival, makes it three notable recruitments in 48 hours by the LHF National League Two champions.

That could soon rise to four as the club are also in negotiations with Oldham half-back Marty Turner, the Roughyeds' Player of the Year this season. The Kiwi, who has NRL experience in Australia, was thought to be returning Down Under but York have been trying to persuade him to try his luck at Huntington Stadium.

Glassie and 'Dana' Wilson are both highly-rated Cook Island internationals but do not count on the overseas quota because of the Kolpak agreement.

Glassie, who has played Bartercard Cup rugby in New Zealand, has also played in Australia's NRL and moved to England before the start of the 2005 season from Newtown Jets, who play in the highly-rated NSWRL VB Premier League. Normally a mobile second-row, his size means he can also play in the front row.

Wilson, 22, is a huge out-and-out prop who enjoys physical confrontations. Both packmen, along with half-back Turner, impressed against the Knights in the Challenge Cup tie between the teams in April.
