IT is quite clear that the proposed collection of household rubbish on a fortnightly basis is a political decision firmly based on York council's apparent cash-strapped status.
The health of the community should be a prime consideration and duty of any local council.
Playing with public health is not a wise move.
Are we to revert back to historic times when rubbish rotted in the streets and disease was rife? What exactly do we pay our council taxes for?
More pertinently why do we continue to pay them when the council is failing in its civic duty?
