BILLY McEwan was pleased to see his tactical switch pay off during last night's 3-0 victory at Tamworth.
The York City boss dispensed with the three-pronged strikeforce he had used in each of the opening ten Conference matches and replaced rested front man Joe O'Neill with winger Bryan Stewart.
He also employed Clayton Donaldson in a more central attacking role and the 21-year-old striker responded by scoring two goals.
McEwan said: "Joe looked a bit weary at Aldershot and I felt he needed a rest. He's been playing up front on his own at times. That's quite a hard job but the rest will do him a lot of good.
"We played with a little more width and gave more support to our front men which I felt Joe didn't get at Aldershot. Clayton also gives us options and choices as he is a forward who can play anywhere and be a handful."
McEwan was also pleased to avenge last season's dismal 1-0 defeat at Tamworth, adding: "They were way more physical than us in the last match we played against them but this is the new York City."
