ENGLAND cricket captain Michael Vaughan continued his Ashes winning celebrations in front of hundreds of Yorkshire fans in his home city yesterday.
Despite being born in Manchester, Vaughan has lived in Sheffield for most of his life and last night had a reception at the city's Town Hall, appearing on the balcony as the crowd below waved St George flags and gave a rendition of Jerusalem, the England team's anthem throughout the thrilling Test series victory over Australia.
Sheffield City Council has already announced the 30-year-old is to receive the Freedom of the City this year - an honour previously bestowed on the likes of Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill.
The England skipper said: "To get the response we did at Trafalgar Square was incredible for the team but on a personal basis to be rewarded in your home town is a little bit more special."
