York City Rowing Club's younger oarsmen continued their winning streak with victory in four events at the Bradford Regatta.

The Junior 15 Double scull of Chris Wright and Robert McKenzie beat three other crews in their event.

Wright, from Moor Monkton, and Acomb-based McKenzie opened with an easy victory over Trafford, then defeated Oundle School before seeing off Bradford Grammar School by 1 lengths in the final.

Owen Harrison (Moor Monkton) and James Reeder (Clifton) won Junior 14 Double Sculls, beating Hollingworth Lake in the final by six lengths

The two doubles then joined together and were coxed by Alice Hood to victory over Merchant Taylors School before beating Hollingworth Lake by two lengths in the final of Junior 15 coxed quad sculls.

The Women's Junior 15 Double scull of Louisa Hood and Iona Harrap were a length down on Merchant Taylors School at half way but roared back to win by a comfortable margin.

Harrap, in her first singles race at Women's Junior 14 level, lost by two lengths to a Merchant Taylors opponent.

The Women's Junior 16 double scull of Harriet Hobbs and Lauren Hennessy only started rowing in January and rowed in Women's Novice double sculls.

It was their first regatta and they progressed to the semi-final after beating City of Sheffield but their hopes of a place in the final ended when they were disqualified for interference after they crossed the finish line first.

The Senior Women's Novice Double sculls was won by Emily Hulley and Katrina Crawford by 1 lengths from Merchant Taylors School.

Hulley then beat Crawford in the final of the Senior Women's Novice Single Sculls.

The Veteran coxed quad of Sean Stephenson, Heather McKenzie, Gill Porteous and Gilchrist, plus cox Hood were beaten by City of Sheffield by one length.

It was the first race for McKenzie and Stephenson, who had only been sculling for just over 12 weeks, having taken part in the York club's 'Learn to Row' courses over the summer.

York rowers were also in action at the gruelling Boston Rowing Marathon held over a 31-mile course from Lincoln to Boston on the river Witham.

City's Dan Clarke and Charlotte Richer clocked a record time of 3 hours 47 minutes and 48 seconds to win the Mixed Senior 1 Double Sculls.

Helen Banks also won the Women's Veteran 'B' Single Sculls in 4hrs 15min and 19 seconds, slashing over an hour off the previous best time.

The luckless Men's Senior 4 coxless quad lost by three minutes after having to stop to free their rudder from weeds mid-course. However, the Men's Senior 4 double scull of Dan Beaumont and Andy Jason won their event and the Women's Senior 3 double sculls event was won by York City crew Catherine Smith and Becky Raines.

Joel Lancaster won the Junior 18 Sculls event in 4hrs 13min, and Rachel Furnell took just nine minutes longer to win the Women's Novice Single Sculls.

York's Men's Senior 1 coxless pair of George Scott and Rob Drever-Smith won their event despite steering failure after 10 miles and having to repair their damaged boat mid-course.

Richard Smalman-Smith finished the Men's Veteran 'A' Single Sculls in 3hrs 57 mins 15 secs, missing the course record by 1 minutes.

York City's Sprint Regatta is being held on Saturday (10am start). Racing will be over an Ouse course from Scarborough Bridge to the boathouse by Lendal Bridge.
