Jamie Spencer is heading north to Redcar tomorrow in his quest to strengthen his grip on the jockeys' championship.

The margin between Spencer and his arch-rival Seb Sanders is 12 winners after both had a single success at Carlisle yesterday.

Spencer's Redcar trip promises further victories. He might well go close to emulating his feat on the course last week when he won four races on the card.

Without looking to have any outstanding mounts tomorrow, Newmarket-based Spencer has several with fighting chances, including Herninski in the Pertemps Nursery.

Trained at Middleham by Patrick Haslam, this juvenile has been brought along steadily and looks the type to make a mark in handicap company.

The Mark Brisbourne-trained Magari provides Spencer with a reasonable chance of victory in the Redcar Racecourse Conference Centre Selling Stakes, while Nap selection Danceinthevalley, trained by the in-form Alan Swinbank, makes appeal in the Playford Ros Handicap.

Swinbank, who is based at Melsonby near Richmond, has his horses in great heart and Danceinthevalley, a dual-winner this term, should go well in this modest event.

Jim Goldie's Yorkshire Blue (5.55), a previous winner on the course, adds to the title-chasing jockey's ammunition in the concluding sprint handicap.

At Goodwood, Hayzyview is fancied to defy top weight in the £30,000 Charles James Homes Foundation Stakes.

Neville Callaghan's consistent four-year-old ran a fine race to finish second to the smart David Junior in a Group 3 event on this course recently. A reproduction of that effort is likely to be good enough to win this Listed race.
