WHEN the city council introduced the roadside recycling scheme for bottles, cans, and paper I immediately noticed my bin was no longer overflowing every week, though it was still pretty full.
So I started collecting plastic bottles and cardboard too, and recycling them at the tip. Again I noticed another reduction in the amount of waste in my bin.
I suspect that one reason the council is introducing collection of garden waste is that it makes up a fair proportion of waste now collected in bins so it's a good idea for those that will make use of it.
However, I'm in the same situation as many other readers - I have very little garden or compostable kitchen waste in my bin, because I compost it myself.
I had thought the green bins were going to be for card and plastic bottles, I'm sure that would help the council meet its recycling targets too.
