I HAVE a question in connection with the latest scheme on recycling.
What happens to the people who do not have gardens and therefore will not have the green bins - those living in flats with communal gardens dealt with by the council, or the elderly who live in sheltered accommodation who have a grey wheelie bin and recycling boxes?
When I asked the council on behalf of my mum, who is in such accommodation, whether she will have her grey bin emptied weekly or fortnightly no one could give me an answer. She already recycles her glass and paper in the green box.
I also know of an elderly woman in the area who lives in a flat (she has a grey bin but no recycling boxes) and she can't find out an answer either.
The elderly and the disabled living in this type of accommodation are not able to get to the nearest rubbish and recycling site, and not all will have family to do it for them, so what happens if their grey bin is only emptied once a fortnight and is overflowing?
