FRESH from demolishing Goole, York RUFC will aim to wind up their Yorkshire One campaign with victory in a home match against Ilkley on Saturday.

The Clifton Parkers looked hugely impressive in their opening 32-7 win over Goole dominating on both sides of the ball.

And they will expect nothing less than a handsome victory against an Ilkley side which fell to newly promoted Sheffield Tigers in their opening game of the campaign.

York go into the match having to make three changes - all of them enforced. In the pack, Stu Davies is out injured after tearing a rib cartilage in the first half against Goole. He is replaced by Ollie Councell.

Brad Macdonald, unavailable on Saturday, will be replaced by Grant Williams, who played an influential role in the second half of last week's game.

Centre Rob Taylor is on holiday, so Nick Ventress will make his first appearance of the Yorkshire One season.

League matters continue to dominate at York, but the club has learned they will play Acklam, in Teesside, in the first round of the Powergen Intermediate Cup on September 17.

Pocklington face a tricky trip to West Leeds as they aim to build on a hard-earned 16-9 victory over Ripon last weekend.

The East Yorkshire side have been hit by a hefty blow to skipper Matt Atkinson who is out with a rib cartilage injury, while vice-captain Sandy Mitchell will also miss the match because his leg problem has still not cleared up.

On the bright side, player-coach Guy Hope returns at centre after recovering from a bug and wing Tim Nixon and flanker Steve Wilcock come into the squad after being unavailable last week.

Matt Davies, the 18-year-old, who impressed on Saturday, is ruled out with concussion. With promoted West Leeds unlucky not to celebrate their return to Yorkshire Two with a victory at North Ribblesdale - going down 26-25 to a last-minute score - Pocklington chiefs are well aware they have a severe match on their hands.

Selby are expecting another close game with Yorkshire neighbours Pontefract when the two sides meet at Moor Lane.

In 19 league encounters between the two sides, Pontefract have scored just three more points than the Sandhill Laners.

Selby make three changes from the side which got off to a cracking Yorkshire One start with a 36-17 win over Keighley.

In the backs, Dan Porter - expected to take over the kicking duties - returns to the wing at the expense of Mike Parsonage.

Business commitments keep forward Andrew Pocklington from taking part and prop Paul Gabel will step up to replace him. Kevin Weston drops down to the bench as vice-captain Wright Phillips partners Rob Triffit in the second row.

Tomorrow's match will be a timely warm-up for Intermediate Cup action as the two sides will meet again in a week's time in the first round at Sandhill Lane.

Malton and Norton were given a bruising welcome to life in Durham and Northumberland One when falling 21-15 to Ponteland.

This weekend they will be hoping to record their first victory of the campaign when they face off against Ryton at The Gannock.
