PAUL Laidlaw presents an evening of music, anecdotes and more from his career as a professional actor and director on Sunday (24th) at the National Centre of Early Music, York.

Paul, York Musical Theatre Company's artistic and musical director, will be joined by principal company members and friends from the theatre world to wile away a summer evening at this one-off event.

The 7.30pm show distils the essence of his professional career and his long association with York Musical Theatre Company, directing shows at York Theatre Royal and the Grand Opera House such as Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, the UK premiere of Titanic: The Musical and, earlier this year, Guys And Dolls.

Paul Laidlaw And Friends is the first of three York Musical Theatre Company events during the next few months.

When The Lights Go On Again, an evening of nostalgia and music from the war years, will be staged at the Opera House on September 11 at 7.30pm, and the company will make its Theatre Royal Studio debut on September 27 to October 1 to mark Stephen Sondheim's 75th birthday by presenting his revue Side By Side By Sondheim.

Tickets for Sunday cost £10, concessions £8, on 01904 658338 or by e-mail to boxoffice@ncem.co.uk.
