A FREE bus service for shoppers has won a last-minute reprieve, but customers from Strensall, New Earswick, Huntington and Flaxton may not realise that their Co-op bus has escaped the axe.

The York Pullman service which took shoppers from the villages around York to the Haxby Co-op store was due to stop last Friday.

But the Co-op changed its mind at the eleventh hour - too late for some customers to be told the good news, as they had already been dropped off.

The bus will continue to run on Friday mornings, leaving Sand Hutton at 9.20am, Claxton at 9.25am, Flaxton at 9.30am, Strensall at 9.40am and arriving at the Co-op before10am.

A second journey picks up in Huntington at 10.20am and New Earswick at 10.30am, giving shoppers about an hour in the store before the return trip.
