A FORMER pupil at Huntington School is to travel to St James's Palace in London on March 3 to receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

Elizabeth Todd, who comes from Harton, between Malton and York, has undertaken a whole host of challenges to gain the award.

She spent four days on a driving course in the Lake District, played netball for Haxby, helped run Flaxton Brownies, took part in conservation work at St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh and spent last summer working at a summer camp in California.

Elizabeth, 20, who returns as often as she can to help with the Flaxton Brownies, is currently studying English at Newcastle University.
