LEEMAN Hotel moved out of the re-election zone with a terrific 4-3 win at York Sunday Afternoon League third division title contenders Stillington.

In a hard fought match, the home side took the lead three times and on each occasion Leeman fought their way back into the game.

Keith Barron fired Stillington ahead only for Neil Ducey to level by half time with a dipping 20 yard drive.

John Turbine restored Stillington's advantage after the break but once again the visitors equalised, this time with a 25-yard lob from Steve Waddington.

Barron scored his second to put Stillington ahead for the third time, and yet again the Hotel side hit back with Neil Ducey making it 3-3.

Bulmer then put Leeman in front for the first time and from then until the final whistle, Leeman were under immense pressure but McLean and Morley were solid at the centre of the Leeman defence with goalkeeper Paul Ballanatune making some important saves.

League leaders Hole in the Wall travelled to 10-man Pack and scored six times without reply.

Pack's goalkeeper restricted the margin of defeat with some great saves, including a penalty.

Man of the match was Hodson who contributed with two well taken goals, one of which was a low shot and the second a well placed header.

The main threat to Hole in the Wall now appears to come from Black Swan who made it nine wins out of 10 with an 8-1 victory at Volunteer Arms, who led with a Paul King spot kick. The visitors rallied with two goals from Musson and one from Mullen to lead 3-1 at half-time.

Musson went on to complete his hat trick and then Fletcher struck to make it 5-1. Mullen then added his second, Musson hit his fourth and substitute Russ Hoban rounded things off.

Clifton Rangers kept in touch after a hard fought 2-1 win at Trebor Bassett, a result which leaves the latter stranded in the re-election zone. Ben Firth struck on the half hour for Clifton with a shot from outside the penalty area. It remained at 1-0 until 10 minutes into the second half when Damian Richards added a second.

When the visitors were awarded a penalty, the game looked all but over, but Judson in the Trebor goal pulled off a fine save and this appeared to give the home side heart as they pulled one back through Mick Smith with 20 minutes remaining, but it stayed at 2-1 in favour of Clifton.

The difference between Bay Horse Marygate and C B United was Danny Allera. He scored all the goals in Bay Horse's 5-0 victory over their great rivals.

Life is tough at the top of the first division, as the top two clubs were both unable to win against relegation strugglers.

Leaders Old Malton Athletic were involved in a tough 2-2 draw at A S Cock and Bottle, whose goals came from Hinds and Clark.

Sawdon and Wilford replied for the visitors.

The game ended five minutes early when Malton's Ian Whitaker suffered a broken leg. He was joined in hospital by two of his team-mates who were suffering from cracked ribs.

Second-placed Knavesmire Hotel were involved in a 10-goal thriller at York Nomads Society, before going down 6-4. Bond, Crosby and Smith all netted two apiece for Nomads with Nicholson doing likewise for Knavesmire. The visitors' other two goals came from Simon Kehoe and a Nomads defender.

Rigid now replace Knavesmire in second place, following their 4-1 win over St John's College. Andy Cygan scored all four Rigid goals with Mason hitting the lone student's reply.

York Police beat Pollington 7-3, thanks to goals from Darley, Bostwick and Hopper, Steve Ward, the son of a policeman, who has had trials with Bradford City, scored the other four goals.

A player who is due to have trials with Swansea City is York Nomads 85, 17-year-old Jamie Agnew. He struck first for the league leaders against Drum and then went on to complete his hat trick in an 8-0 win.

It was only 1-0 at half time, thanks mainly to Camidge in the Drum goal, but once the second goal came the floodgates opened with goals from Mason, Davis and a Dean Walton hat trick to add to Agnew's three.

Second placed Magsons travelled to Shoulder of Mutton and scored three times without reply, thanks to a Pete Harris brace and a Glen Noble strike.

Terrington Tigers stay third after winning their six-pointer with Heworth Hopgrove 5-0 as Walsh (2), Bradshaw, Magsons and Collins severely dented Heworth's title bid.

Drax United replace Heworth in fourth spot after beating Railway King 4-2. Goals came from Colley (2), Hirst and Mileham with McKenzie and Kelly replying for the York pub side.

Last week Royal York Hotel beat Ebor, Bishopthorpe, this week the reverse happened, and next week the two sides clash in the League cup. Clark scored a hat trick for Hotel but it was not enough as Ebor ran out 5-3 winners thanks to goals from Walsh (2), Wake, Kettlewell and Dickenson.
