Cancer victim Chloe Condren has enjoyed a fabulous trip to Disneyland Paris - thanks to hundreds of York fundraisers.

Chloe, four, from Leeman Road, York, met Mickey Mouse, came face-to-face with Tweedledum and Tweedledee and even had breakfast with Minnie Mouse during a three-day visit.

"She really enjoyed herself," said Chloe's mother, Rebecca. "We had told them in advance she was coming and she was given a special VIP badge so she didn't have to queue. They were ever so nice."

Chloe, a pupil at St George's Primary School nursery in York, especially liked the Dumbo and Peter Pan rides.

Fundraisers collected £11,000 through a series of events in York to send Chloe to Disneyland in America.

The couple had planned to take her to Disneyland in America when she had recovered, but were devastated recently when doctors told them her lymphoma illness was incurable after she had suffered a third relapse.

They decided to press ahead with the shorter trip across the Channel while Chloe could enjoy it.

They flew from Manchester to Paris and the youngster, along with her little sister Holly, mum and dad, Billy, spent three full days on the Disney complex last week.

Rebecca said there had been snow fairly recently in the area, so they had been fortunate to find temperatures soaring, with Chloe coping well with the heat.

The trip cost about half the money raised, so the Condrens are now hoping to give her another treat in this country by taking her to Center Parcs.

"We want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped raise the money for Chloe," said Rebecca.

The fundraisers include West Bank Rugby Club, the Jubilee pub, Acorn Rugby League Club, St George's Nursery, R R Donnelly, York Ladies' Rugby League Club and the Locomotive pub.
