I WRITE in response to your headline, Plan For money Making Gym Is Flawed (October 19).

There is no justification at all for the use of such words which distorts totally the efforts of a lot of people looking to improve the way the foundation is currently managed.

On the inference of money-making, I ask as a member, would the York Community and Gymnastics Foundation please disclose to the members and publish totally what financial rewards those currently running the foundation's affairs receive by direct means or otherwise (i.e. commissions, concession on rent for gym club expenses, etc), because it is not made clear on any financial returns to the charity commission.

I and others would like to take the charity into the new Millennium in a progressive way by keeping all existing activities sacred but opening up all redundant areas of the centre to create differing activities.

The only money-making plan is the same as for all other charities - the furtherance of the charity and its members.

The plan should not benefit individuals or connected organisations, which should be self financed.

M K Holmes,

Heworth Green,

York.
