I read with interest the article by Jonson Cox, the managing director of Yorkshire Water (Evening Press, February, 26).

I might have been more impressed if, that very morning, I had not just received my invoice for 1999/2000 sewerage charges from his company and noted that it had increased by 7.52 per cent, just short of three times the rate of inflation.

Come off it Mr Cox; do you think we can't recognise cant when we see it? No matter how much you may cajole us into thinking the customer is uppermost in your thinking, you know as well as the rest of us that your first concern is your shareholders, your customers coming a very poor second.
