National restaurant chains Pizza Hut and McDonalds will both be getting a slice of the action at Huntington Stadium for the remainder of the Northern Ford Premiership season in what the club sees an important step forward.

Pizza Hut are to sponsor the Man of the Match award for all home games while McDonalds are getting involved with the junior supporters.

They will sponsor the ball boys' tracksuits as well as setting up match-day initiatives for junior fans such as give-aways.

Of the Pizza Hut deal, Wasps commercial manager Derek Blackham said: "From a financial point of view it's not a big deal but it's nice to have one of the big companies in the area getting involved in the club. From little acorns grow big oak trees."

Blackham is keen to encourage more local firms to get involved with the Wasps and added: "If anyone is interested in sponsoring the club, no matter how small, I'm happy to go and see anyone about anything."

Anybody interested should contact Blackham at the club office on 01904 634636.

York Wasps Supporters Club is running a coach to Sunday's match at Keighley Cougars. The coach will leave Huntington Stadium at 12.30pm with various pick-up points.

Tickets are likely to cost £6 for club members, £7 for non-members and £5 for children although the price may change depending on the level of take-up. For further details, telephone Ann Garvey on 01759 380298.
