In-form York Wasps prop Steve Hill is facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday's crucial Northern Ford Premiership clash with Keighley Cougars.

Race: Steve Hill

Hill, who has made an outstanding start to the season, is suffering from a bronchial infection which forced him to miss Tuesday night's training session.

Coach Dean Robinson said he was taking antibiotics and was hoping Hill would recover in time to make the trip to Cougar Park.

He is the only doubt for the match after the Wasps came through last Friday night's tough Challenge Cup tie at Castleford with only minor knocks.

There was better news for back row forward Paul Darley who has been given the all-clear by his consultant to resume full training.

Darley has been out of action since suffering a depressed fracture of the cheekbone in the pre-season friendly against his former club Hull Sharks.

Robinson said he would not play at Keighley but would be back in contention for the following Sunday's home game with Swinton.

Meanwhile, Robinson revealed he has been tracking Leeds Tykes' centre and ex-Castleford Tiger Diccon Edwards, who is looking to play rugby league during the summer once his rugby union commitments with the Tykes end.

The Wasps coach said he had spoken to the former Pocklington School pupil but was not anticipating any immediate progress.
