A sculpture of a deer was unveiled to mark the official opening of a care retirement community in York today.
We have the antler: animal sculptress Sally Arnup with the newly-unveiled hart sculpture. Picture by Nigel Holland
The statue of the hart, cast in bronze, is based on the measurements of the heaviest park deer ever recorded.
The statue's sculptress, Sally Arnup, of Holtby, near York, has also created other large outdoor pieces in Switzerland and America.
Sally said: "The deer is a subject with which I have always wanted to be involved. I am delighted that this large bronze will be in York, my home city".
The Continuing Care Retirement Community, at Hartrigg Oaks, New Earswick was completed last September.
