This can be claimed by some sick or disabled people, and you may be able to get it if you need help with tasks like dressing, washing, bathing or even taking medicine.

You also might qualify if you need someone to keep an eye on you in case you hurt yourself if you are prone to falls or have a serious medical condition. Attendance Allowance can be claimed by anyone over 65, whatever their financial situation.

It will not reduce your means-tested benefits like Housing Benefit or Income Support. In many cases it will qualify you for more.

The national charity Counsel and Care, which has an advice agency for older people, has produced a factsheet explaining who qualifies and how to claim this benefit. It is free if you send a stamped addressed envelope (31p) to the address below or by calling our local rate advice line on 0845 300 7585.

Our advisers can help you claim or deal with any other matters related to your rights to benefits.

If you are in doubt about what you may be entitled to don't hesitate to contact us today.
