It is all very well for York City Council to tell motorists to 'get walking'. Obviously those laying down this policy don't walk on footpaths these days. If they did, they would order a crackdown on the yobs illegally riding on the footpaths and putting pedestrians in danger of being either physically hurt or verbally abused. As a Lollipop lady, I know this happens.
I suggest that anyone aged more than 13 who is caught riding illegally should have their cycle confiscated; they would only get it after paying a fine.
On a different note, as a cyclist and motorist I would appeal to drivers to be more aware of the majority of cyclists who do stick to the rules of the road.
