SCARBOROUGH welcome Rochdale to the McCain Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.30pm) with two new faces in their ranks after a transfer deadlineday of mixed fortunes.

As reported in the Evening Press yesterday, basement club Boro have secured the services of Scottish Under-21 international Sean McAuley from Scunthorpe United until the end of the season.

And at the 11th hour, Boro also managed to sign Welsh midfielder Nathan Jones on loan from Southend United.Southend had originally blocked the move but had a change of heart with just 15 minutes of trading left.

However, at least threeother players had turned down moves to the Seaside, most notably York City's wantaway midfielder Steve Agnew.

"In the end Steve didn't want to come here," said a disappointed Addison.

"We were also hoping to bring in Steve Gaughan from Darlington but they have said we cannot have him which is disappointing."Gaughan scored for Darlington in midweek to secure a point against Boro's fellow strugglers at the foot of division three Carlisle.

"We have chased probably more than 20 players this week," revealed Addison.

"But McAuley is an important signing for us because he can play in defence or midfield and will give us additional strength."McAuley started his career with Manchester United although he never made an appearance for the Premiership giants. He has since played for St Johnstone and Hartlepool before signing for the Iron.

One player ruled out for Rochdale tonight is Boro defender Jason Lydiate.

He has signed for Dale on loan for another two months but cannot play tonight under the terms of his move.Scarborough: Parks, Russell, McNaughton, Hoyland, Rennison, G Atkinson, Brodie, Bullimore, Porter, Tate, Roberts, Saville, Robinson, Mountfield, McAuley, Jones.
