It is all very well for Detective Chief Inspector Lacy to say of the recent troubles in Tang Hall and Clifton: "The problem will only get better when we all fight it together."
His police force has the resources, though admittedly not as many as they need, and the mandate to keep the peace on our streets.
What exactly are scared members of the public meant to do? People rely on what is seemingly becoming an ever more unresponsive and ineffective police force for their protection.
Many must now feel that the law is not on their side.
Indeed, I have heard or read of several people who have 'had a go' at stopping hooligans and burglars and been prosecuted for their neighbourliness.
Is this 'fighting it together'?
