Scott Boucher has arguably the best job in York - or the worst - depending on your point of view.

TOP JOB: Scott Boucher in the cab of his tower crane 135 feet above York

His office has by far the most stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside.

There is no boss looking over his shoulder, and he even has a TV and radio to relax with when things quieten down.

But then, would you want to climb a 135ft ladder everyday to get to your workplace?

Scott's tiny glass-encased cab hangs from a crane in Piccadilly which has dominated the York skyline for more than a year.

Come rain or shine, each day at 8am he scales the seemingly endless red-runged ladder for the start of his eight-hour shift. It's a climb he will make four times during the course of his day.

Scott, 24, of Woodland Avenue, Haxby, York, gets unrivalled views of the North York Moors and the White Horse at Kilburn and on a clear day he can see the base at Menwith Hill. He can also see the power stations at Drax and Eggborough.

Originally trained as a JCB driver, he has also worked on cranes at London Docklands at heights of more than 400ft!.

"Working in an office just doesn't appeal to me," he says.

He will make his final descent at the end of the week before the crane is dismantled on Sunday.
