The scene in Walmgate this afternoon after a water main burst, turning the street into a virtual river
Massive flooding today brought chaos to part of York city centre and severely disrupted production of your Evening Press.
A watery nightmare in Walmgate, outside the York and County Press offices, has meant we have had to scrap our usual Selby and Late Final editions.
The problem appeared to be due to a burst water main outside Hurst's Yard.
The road was badly damaged, shops and businesses were affected and the council was bringing in sandbags to protect buildings.
Buses were being diverted down Navigation Road.
