City of York I paid the penalty for some reckless play as they went down 4-1 at Harrogate I.

Chances came and went at both ends, but York held their lead to half-time.

However, parity was restored when Matt Couttie slipped the ball to the far post after a skilful dribble and John Armstrong fired home.

Just before half-time, Sheffield retook the lead and it wasn't until midway through the second-half that Simon Williams put City back on level terms.

With York once more in the ascendancy they were made to pay for another failure to clear their lines as Sheffield grabbed a late winner.

City of York IV made a disastrous start in their game with Slazengers II, finding themselves 3-0 down after just five minutes.

Acomb Ladies were off the mark quickly on their way to a 4-1 win over Wensleydale.

Ruth Baxter fired Acomb in front from a short corner after five minutes but the York side were then punished by a lone Wensleydale forage forward.

The pressure finally told as Jamie Robinson fired the York side in front but Acomb were then pegged back after being reduced to ten men.

After the break, Boston scrambled a goal to take a 2-1 lead and should have extended their advantage when handed a dubious penalty.

However, the flick was too weak and easily saved by the Acomb 'keeper.

With just four minutes to go Acomb were themselves awarded a penalty stroke.

Stuart Baxter slotted home the equaliser but was himself carded in the process.

A man down with just minutes to go, Acomb refused to settle for a share of the spoils.
