York Wasps will have their provisional fixture list for the forthcoming Northern Ford Premiership season by next week - unless Hunslet Hawks get their way.

Hunslet are attempting to get an injunction placed on the Rugby Football League to prevent the printing of fixtures for both the NFP and Super League .

The move is being taken by the NFP Grand Final winners in their bid to win a place in Super League. An Independent Franchise Panel turned down their application to join Super League next season but the Hawks have enrolled a team of lawyers in an attempt to seek a judicial review of the decision.

RFL spokesman John Huxley was unable to comment on any specific action being taken by Hunslet but said: "We are aware that Hunslet are considering various options and we have heard from their legal advisors."

If the injunction is not successful, Huxley said the new fixture list would be going out to the clubs next Monday. If they get the approval of the clubs, they should be made public towards the end of the next week although it remains to be seen if they will include Hull Sharks and the new Sheffield club, both of whom are yet to be accepted into the NFP.

Wasps chief executive Ann Garvey said she had requested a home game for York on the opening day of the season. She revealed that Hull Kingston Rovers had approached them as potential opponents for what would be a cracking Boxing Day derby, though that would probably depend on Hull Sharks' application to join the league.

Meanwhile, Garvey confirmed the players' wage structure was finally agreed at a board meeting last night.

She declined to go into detail but said coach Dean Robinson and assistant John Paterson had attended the meeting and all issues had been resolved.

"It is all systems go. Everything has been agreed and we hope to sign some players by the weekend," she said.
