Michael Crawford with a copy of his book for the book-signing at the W H Smith store in Coney Street, York, on Saturday
Star of stage, screen and television Michael Crawford dropped in to York at the weekend to plug his Christmas CD and autobiography.
The singer, who went from Frank Spencer to Phantom Of The Opera, spent a couple of hours signing copies for a crowd of more than 200 people at the W H Smith store in Coney Street.
Staff at the store said the celebrity delighted his local fans while promoting his seasonal chart album, The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year, and his autobiography, Parcel Arrived Safely - Tied With String.
W H Smith assistant manager Kelvin Grant said: "Michael is a lovely, lovely guy - truly professional. He entertained the people wonderfully."
