Selby Jubilee scored a comprehensive 9-0 home win over Bubwith in men's division three of York and District Badminton League.

Each rubber was taken in straight sets, Paul Newham and N Richardson being top scorers with three wins for a match aces total of 90-37.

Duncan Bosworth and Sue were top scorers as Students 'A' beat Nestl 'B' 8-1 in mixed division one. Their return of 90-27 included a two and one win over Sheila Mackerel and Steve Andrew, who took Nestl's point with a 13 and 11 win over Heather Turner and Russell Binns.

Nestl 'A' fared better with a 9-0 home win over Selby 77 'A' at the Haxby Road gym. Craig Dobson and Kath Watt hit top form for the home side with three straight wins for 90-39.

Drax 'B' scored a 5-4 home win over Huntington 'A' in mixed division two. Sue Matchett and Andrew Dunning scored wins for Drax for 90-47, while Sue Hardy and Dave Walsh sealed the match with a ninth rubber 13-15 15-10 15-5 win over Lindsay and Alastair Jewison.

Huntington lost 7-2 at home to Students 'B', whose Mike Jones and Caroline Grubb scored three wins for 91-61.

Students 'B' then won 5-4 at Riverside. Nigel Stainforth and Margaret Sinclair scored three wins for Riverside, but Helen Chapman and Paul Capewell took the win bonus points with an 11 and six victory over Hilary Seavers and Chris Swift.

Tadcaster 86 'B' won 8-1 at home to Huntington 'B' in mixed division four. Huntington 'B', who were a pairing short, had to be satisfied with Jim Pratt and Lindsay Jewison taking their consolation success with a 12 and six victory over J Middleton and M Hanson.

Selby 77 'B' were 6-3 winners at Market Weighton. After six close games Paul Frost and Jill Marsden headed the Selby averages with three wins for 124-121.

Shepherd kept up their good form in mixed division five with a 9-0 home win over Middlethorpe. Ian Eaton and Chiara Secchi topped the home return after three straight wins for a total of 90-26.

Terry Suchard were beaten 7-2 at home to York University Staff Club 'B' team in mixed division five. Judy Wilson and Ian Forman played well for Terry's, being rewarded with a 15-11 15-6 over Garry Turner and Sarah Hasnip. Paul Scott and Heather McClaren were the pick of the Staff club pairs, with three straight wins for 92-56.

Knavesmire 'B' scored a 5-4 last rubber home win over Fulfordgate 'A' in mixed division five. Carol Bell and John Major were top scorers with three straight Knavesmire wins for 90-41, but Garry Hall and Hazel Winfield clinched the match with a seven and 11 victory over Caroline Ryder and Geoff Hepworth.

Following Sheriff Hutton Badminton Club's junior (9-16 years) badminton sessions, coached by John Colley, 16 junior players took part in a tournament at Poppleton Sports Centre.

Terri Wade was unbeaten in winning the girls singles. Zara Fitzpatrick was a close runner-up. Joel Wilford took first place in the boys' singles, closely followed by Stephen Colley and Chris Webb. The tournament prizes were donated by IT Sports of York.
