Malton jockey Derek Byrne, who ended up on the deck after a dramatic final-flight departure in the last race at Sedgefield yesterday, can set the record straight by enjoying a winner at Musselburgh tomorrow.

Byrne is reunited with Damien's Choice in the Ladbroke Casinos Manhattan Room Novices' Handicap Hurdle and the Kevin Ryan-trained gelding is strongly fancied to take the honours.

Byrne was none the worse for his tumble yesterday from Sahara Reem, who was staying on strongly in second place, just a length behind the eventual winner Potters Dream, when she blundered badly and sent the misfortunate jockey into orbit.

As for Damien's Choice, he was ridden to victory by Byrne at Kelso two outings ago. But a bout of flu caused the rider to miss the mount at Wetherby's Christmas meeting when Damien's Choice, under 8lb overweight, finished a two and a half lengths runner-up to October Mist, who had got first run on him.

Unlucky not to have collected, Damien's Choice is napped to get back on top tomorrow -with Byrne in the saddle.

Pentlands Flyer is not the easiest of horses to ride, but the Howard Johnson-trained gelding should take plenty of pegging back in the Ladbroke Maybury Casino Madison Bar Handicap Chase.

Despite jumping out to his left and running wide on the bends, Pentlands Flyer was a winner on this course last month under Adrian Maguire.

He can follow-up tomorrow in the hands of the brilliant Richard Johnson.

Tony Martin, who has an incredible strike-rate on his trips to Britain from his Irish base, significantly sends a couple of runners to Musselburgh.

Ichi Beau contests the selling hurdle, while Davids Ladruns in the long-distance handicap hurdle. With Conor O'Dwyer booked to partner the pair, both horses command plenty of respect.

Sikander A Azam, impressive winner of his first two race over fences, flopped when raised on class at Sandown last time.

The Chris Grant-trained gelding is back in action in the Ladbroke Maybury Casino Charleston Restaurant Novices' Chase and this aggressive performer will take some pegging back in the hands of Russ Garritty.

At Folkestone, the featured £10,000 Tote Showcase Handicap Chase looks best left to Secret Bid, the mount of Andrew Thornton.

A creditable three lengths runner-up to the useful Rightsaidfred here last month, Secret Bid had previously scored over this course and distance.

He can get back to winning ways tomorrow for shrewd trainer Robert Alner.
