Another major development dogged by delays should, fingers crossed, open to the public tomorrow. It promises to have been worth the wait. The £5 million arthouse cinema on Coney Street is City Screen's northern flagship.

It looks set to be an attractive and important addition to York's cultural life.

The complex has already helped to revitalise a riverside area that has been derelict since the publishers of this newspaper relocated to Walmgate. Now it will provide a welcome extra choice for York residents and visitors on a night out.
