Chief Monarch, successful at Musselburgh a fortnight ago, returns to the same Scottish course tomorrow with excellent prospects of following-up in the hands of Lorcan Wyer.

The six-year-old, trained at Butterwick near Malton by Richard Fahey, goes for the Tote Bookmakers Showcase Handicap and is napped to add to his winning score.

A former decent Flat-race performer, Chief Monarch has taken well to hurdling this season, winning at Catterick before his latest Musselburgh success.

In between was a disappointing effort in a handicap at Catterick, but the ground was pretty testing that day and he can be forgiven his below-par display.

Underfoot conditions tomorrow are expected to be ideal for Chief Monarch, who can use his superior Flat-race speed to good effect at the end of this two mile race.

Fahey and Wyer can also take the Weatherbys 'Stars Of Tomorrow' National Hunt Flat race with Wintertide.

The four-year-old created a big impression when landing some tidy bets in convincing style on his debut at Catterick last month.

The form of that race has worked out well and Wintertide, highly regarded in the Fahey camp, is taken to double his tally tomorrow.

Norton trainer Malcolm Jefferson, who is enjoying a useful campaign, can clinch the opening race with Pertino in the Tom McConnell Memorial Novices' Hurdle.

A progressive performer, Pertino opened his winning account at Newcastle two outings ago and ran well in defeat at Kelso recently when chasing home the high-class Mixsterthetrixster. He can get back on the winning trail tomorrow under Graham Lee.

Jefferson and Lee have double prospects with Just Jake in the Anderson Strathern Handicap Chase.

Successful at Sedgefield two outings ago, Just Jake found the drop back to two miles against him at Newcastle last time when second to Kimdallo. Tomorrow's step up to three miles ought to suit him.

Mary Reveley has enjoyed some profitable days at Musselburgh this winter and tomorrow's meeting is unlikely to leave her empty-handed.

The all-conquering Lingdale trainer is expected to land the J R McNair Novices' Handicap Hurdle with Amber Gale, a steadily-improving six-year-old, who will have the assistance of Alan Dempsey.

At Leicester, Destin d'Estruval has strong claims in the Trial Handicap Chase.

Henrietta Knight's gelding made an encouraging start to the season when a length second to Dark Stranger at Leicester a fortnight ago. That outing, coupled with tomorrow's slightly longer distance, should enable him to go one better. Jim Culloty has the ride.
