AA Milne's character was clearly prescient. "We will build it here," said Pooh, "because this is where I first thought of it, just by the wood, out of the wind".

Life rarely imitates a story book but in this case council planners have excelled themselves in building the Park and Ride next to the sewage works.

By planting a wood they hope to distract the public from the odoriferous winds that frequently blow at Pooh Corner.

At a time of serious overdraft they are also intending to employ a full-time ranger to run this new sensory garden.

Throughout the process the council's decisions have had a noticeably bad odour - in this case their decision literally stinks!
