I read your articles (February 15 and 16) on York's waterfront with some interest. As a youngster I was befriended by a bargee who for many years travelled to York from the ports of Hull and Goole with a variety of cargoes; some for Rowntree's some for building firms that existed on York's waterfront years ago.
As children we were taught in school about the merchants that used the rivers Humber and Ouse to ply their trades.
With the vast amount of history attached to the Ouse perhaps a museum could be considered. Perhaps a floating museum which would offer added interest to children.
