Scarborough could count themsleves a little unlucky for not taking all three points from their trip to Nuneaton Borough on Saturday.

The Seasiders were on top for much of the game, after going ahead early on through Chris Tate.

The young striker turned to fire home from the edge of the box.

Darren Roberts looked dangerous all game but with his best chance of the match, on 55 minutes, rolled the ball just wide after rounding home 'keeper Chris MacKenzie, who at all other times had a superb game.

Nuneaton equalised a minute later, when Wayne McDermott fired home from a well-worked free-kick.

Scarborough's leading scorer Steve Brodie enjoyed a fine return after injury, and could have earned his side a penalty late on when apparently tripped by David Crowley, but play was waved on.

Harrogate Town have often enjoyed visits to Parkside Road, and on Saturday returned from Cumbria with three more UniBond League division one points.

Hosts Netherfield Kendal were beaten by a 19th minute Scott Bairstow strike, the Town skipper getting the only goal of the game after a one-two with Alex Nesovic.

Netherfield had an apparent equaliser ruled out for a push on 'keeper John Stancliffe, and went close when Paul Lynch fired over, while at the other end, Bairstow saw an effort cleared off the line.

The hosts put the pressure on in the final stages, and both John Dann and Dave Foster missed good chances, but Town held on to register their first away league win of the millennium.

Harrogate Railway, bottom of the Northern Counties East League premier division, were unlucky to take no points from their game at Alfeton Town, going down 3-1.

Two first-half goals from set pieces - the second arguably offside - saw the hosts go 2-0 up, but Railway were well on top after the interval.

Colin Darvill pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go, and his side missed a number of chances to equalise before Alfreton broke away in the last minute to score.

Harrogate manager Paul Marshall said: "We can take heart from this game as we played really well in the second half, and we are confident we can get enough points to stay up."

Selby Town slumped to their first home defeat since October following a dismal display against Denaby United.

The second half was marginally better than a dull first, with Peter Collier firing a couple of shots wide and Billy Walmsley heading over.

Denaby got the only goal of the game on 71 minutes, when Wayne Sutcliffe's low cross was turned in by substitute Mark Reed. Selby argued that Dominic Moyles had been fouled earlier in the move, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Paul Cygan superbly created a half-chance for brother Andy as Selby looked to equalise, while at the other end Louis Axcell shot at 'keeper Matt Potter when well placed.

Tadcaster Albion grabbed three vital division one points in their bid to avoid a re-election spot, with a 2-1 victory at fellow strugglers Hatfield Main.

The Ings Park outfit were made to fight for their win, and were rewarded with an 80th minute winner from Steve Bradshaw, his fifth goal in six games.

Albion had earlier taken the lead on 52 minutes, when home defender Tony Holgate deflected the ball into his own net.

Hatfield equalised on 78 minutes, Kenny Taylor slamming the ball home from the penalty spot, but the their joy was short-lived.

Goole took a giant stride towards securing the first division championship by winning 3-2 at Rossington Main.

Gary Evans, Chris Clegg (penalty) and Stuart Slack were on target for Goole, who now have a seven point lead over nearest rivals Glapwell, who have a game in hand.

Pickering Town avenged a 1-0 defeat at Worsbrough earlier in the season with a fine 4-0 victory.

Skipper Dean McAuley opened the scoring in the first half, which was added to after the break by Andrew Hodgson, man of the match Paul Wilson and centre back Phil O'Reilly, his fourth goal in six games. Striker Patrick Gaughan had a fine game and did everything but score.

West Yorkshire League premier division leaders Nestle Rowntree returned from Wakefield with all three points thanks to a 1-0 victory, the goal scored by Matthew Wain.

A dire display by Knaresborough Town saw their unbeaten run stretching back to September end against Horsforth St Margaret's.

Steve Bradley grabbed a consolation goal with four minutes left, but Horsforth were already 4-0 up.

A Kevin Jackson goal, lobbing the keeper after 67 minutes, gave York RI a 1-0 victory over Aberford Albion.

Jackson missed a couple of other chances to increase the lead, while RI 'keeper Adam Mitchell made two fine saves to hold on to the win.

Scott Barley, back from suspension, was superb throughout.
