Britain's first drive-in movie is proving to be quite a draw. The vehicles in York Asda's car park for the screening of Grease are set to include outside broadcast trucks from GMTV, CNN and ITN.

The media scrum will only add to the sense of excitement surrounding this off-beat event. For years, Americans have attended drive-ins in their Cadillacs and T-Birds. Finally, we can do the same in our Fiestas and Metros.

An April day in North Yorkshire is some way from an August day in California. But as long as their windscreen wipers are functioning, York's pioneering cinema-goers should have a great time.
