Two notable achievements in one fell swoop can be realised by York City at Cheltenham Town.

The Minstermen, unbeaten in seven, can finally lay to rest the threat of relegation with a three point haul against the promotion chasing Robins.

Victory could also lift City up to 19th place, leapfrogging Leyton Orient, who are two points ahead of City and play host to bottom club Chester tomorrow.

It would be York's highest placing since Terry Dolan's arrival in February and the City chief, who always maintained City would not be relegated, admitted overtaking Orient remained his prime target.

"Our aim is to catch the team above and Leyton Orient are that team. They are within distance now and so that's how aim.

"I have not seen Cheltenham play but we have had reports and by all accounts they are very strong and organised, particularly at the back, and the fact they have not had to make too many changes indicates a settled situation."

City's recent resurgence faces its toughest task against high-flying Cheltenham, who are on a three-year roll that shows little sign of abating.

In 1997 the Football League newcomers were plying their trade in the Dr Marten's League and only won promotion to the Nationwide Conference as runners-up.

The following season they also finished second in the 'fifth' division before going one better last season and clinching the championship and promotion.

This season the fairytale has continued and an impressive run of just four defeats from their last 25 matches has seen them climb to fifth and into the promotion play-offs.

The run, which includes four wins from their last five outings, has even given the Robins an outside chance of securing an automatic promotion place should any of the top three slip-up.

Significantly, the Robins are a team without stars - the spine of team still remaining from their Dr Marten's days - and manager Steve Cotterill has been fortunate to have a settled side for much of the campaign.

Former City and Rowntree striker Neil Grayson is the club's top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions this season with talented left-sided midfielder Russell Milton not far behind with 11.

Grayson's current strike partner, Martin Devaney, will be one to watch out for.

The 19-year old home town boy was released by Coventry last season an d after missing much of the current campaign through injury has recovered to score five goals in his last ten games.

Tomorrow's match, 11 years to the day after the Hillsborough tragedy, will kick off at 3.06pm as a mark of respect to the Liverpool fans who lost their lives.

A minute's silence will also be staged before kick-offs at all tomorrow's Premiership and League matches.

York boss Dolan received a boost today with the nes that striker Mark Sertori will not be suspended for next Saturday's home match with in-form Brighton.

Sertori picked up his fifth caution of the season against Darlington last week, which normally means an automatic one match ban.

However, Dolan explained today that at this stage of the season a player who picks up his fifth booking receives a warning as to his future conduct but escapes a ban.

The City chief also revealed a silver lining in Kevin Hulme's four match suspension, which starts after Saturday's trip to Whaddon Road.

Hulme, who underwent a hernia operation before Christmas, has reported some discomfort from an anchor stitch.

The former Halifax midfielder's suspension means he can now have the problem removed sooner rather than later.

l City's intermediates are at Scunthorpe United tomorrow, kick-off 11am, in their penultimate Youth Alliance Merit Premier Division North fixture.
