Reader's letter

Could I ask Coun Rod Hills to explain why, if there is no demand for the conventional swimming pools in York, I had to stand in a queue in the cold for two and half hours in order to book a place for a further course of swimming lessons for my grandson.

Can I also ask if this is part of the greater plan to discourage people from using the swimming pools in order that the council can justify closing the pools?

With regard to the consideration being given to the closure of the Barbican pool, it seem so to me the city councillors are guilty of gross neglect to have allowed the pool to deteriorate to point of closure in just 25 years. Have they never head of a procedure called planned maintenance?
