John Mooring threw a magnificent 11 dart game for York Brewery Darts League division one leaders City Arms, but they lost 5-4 to Volunteer.

Mal Church got City Arms away then Martyn Turner hit a maximum for 15 darts.

Darren Johnson pulled one back for Volunteer before Mooring's splendid effort, which included 140, 121, 180. But Dave Johnson threw well to fend off Mick Nixon before John Dykes squared the scores.

Volunteer took the first two pairs for victory, but big scoring from Turner earned City Arms the aggregate point.

Britannia went 3-0 up before good scores from Dave then Ken Smith brought Clifton back. Mick Bell then checked 126 bull finish for 18 before Stan Jackson and Steve Moran combined to take the match. Despite 140 and 180 from Vince Gothard, Britannia secured the extra point.

Paul Bartlett and Paul Roberts each hit 180's to game in 18 and 20 darts respectively as Punch Bowl completed a 7-2 win at Mitre.

In division two, Jackdaw were 4-2 down but rallied with a fine all-round pairs performance to take the 5-4 victory at Bay Horse. Alan Eshelby's efforts secured aggregate point.

John Brownlee was Acomb Hotel's only singles success in the 6-3 defeat by Reindeer, who had good games from Andy Gillyon and Colin Mehretens.

Fine darts from Steve Lane (20) put Britannia 'B' in front at Burton Stone, but 180 from Dave Lines made it 3-3. Burton Stone took all three pairs to clinch a 6-3 win.

In division three, Mal Muncaster (17) was the star for Crescent 'A' in a 6-3 win against Winning Post.

Woolpack, 6-3 winners at Leeman, had Vic Reed scoring five tons-plus. Roger Pirrie (17) was best for Leeman.

Shepherd's 'B' took over at the top of York Exhibition Hotel Group League division two by beating the previous leaders, Sun 'A', 6-3. Ian Cryle and Doug Sutcliffe had good games to pull Sun back from a 3-0 deficit, but Steve Keenaghan and Phil Carter put the nail in their coffin.

Sun 'B' also lost 6-3, Swan's Pete McNichol partnering Dave Adams to the winner.

Groves took Acorn's unbeaten record with a last game win by Barry Houlden and Chris Flanagan.

Mick Brookes set Holgate off to win the first five with 20 darts, but Saddle won the remainder and the aggregate point driven by excellent Paul Cooper (180) efforts.

Trafalgar beat Green Tree 'A' 7-2 which included 19 darts by Kelvin Frankel and 20 from Paul Keers.

Green Tree 'B' struggled at Horseman to hold their division one place but Gary Wensley and myself popped up for the 5-4 victory.

Dringhouses consolidated their position with a 5-4 win over Osbaldwick, while Barry Noble opened with a superb 16 darter. Osbaldwick's John Holden made a 17 dart reply.

Bruce Alexander and Pete Ella paired to pull-off the aggregate point for Slip, but Flag took the match 5-4. Kevin Keane and Nathan Chalk won the decider.

Kevin Walton (21) and Chas Ramsden with a maximum score starred in a Shepherd's win over Earswick, while Cygnet held the division one lead by beating Poacher 5-4.

Poacher's Ray McInally gamed in 19 darts while Keith Turner, who seems to record 180's for fun, added to his list.

Waggon's Mick Fahey was a maximum scorer in their 7-2 win over Institute.
