York Wasps Rugby League Club were to-day trying to come up with a contingency plan to avert a winding up threat by the Inland Revenue.

The hearing is due to take place at the High Court in London on June 7, unless the Wasps can reach an agreement with the Inland Revenue before that date.
Chief executive Ann Garvey said it had come as a "complete shock" to her and the board. They knew they owed £40,000 which they planned to pay with money from the Rugby League's deal with News Corporation which is due at the end of the season. However, Garvey said the other £37,000 was "a mystery."
