DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a York woman in her own home said today they had received more than 30 calls from members of the public.
But they appealed for more information in tracking the woman's attacker.
DC Bryan Redshaw said a number of names had been put forward and detectives were working to eliminate them from their inquiries. Police are still working on the theory that the rape was an opportunist crime.
"We don't for one minute think we are dealing with a serial rapist," said DC Redshaw.
The woman was raped in her home in the Clifton Green area on May 17. The man is described as white, early to mid-30s, 5ft 8in tall and of proportionate build. He had short, dark brown hair and blue eyes.
