STAND by for tomorrow's announcement of the White Rose winners. Broadcaster John Craven will hand out the Yorkshire Tourist Board's top accolades at a ceremony at Castle Howard near York.

There are a record 46 finalists competing for the dozen categories in the awards which are sponsored by BT and John Smith's Ltd.

Competing for the Outstanding Customer Service Award (nominated by members of the public) are Milan's Hotel, Harrogate; Northcliffe Caravan Park, Scarborough; and York International Youth Hostel

Tourist Information Centre of the Year finalists are the Bedale Tourist Information Centre; Cleethorpes Tourist Information Centre; and Danby Tourist Information Centre.

Winner of the Hotel of the Year - under 50 bedrooms category - will be either Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel, near Whitby, or The White Swan, Pickering. Hotel of the Year - 50 bedrooms and over -will be coveted by finalists de Vere Oulton Hall, Leeds, Hotel St Pierre, Wakefield, and Tankersley Manor, Barnsley,

Five finalists battle it out for the Guest Accommodation of the Year title - Burr Bank, Pickering; Clowbeck House, Croft; The Lawns, Sleights; Shallowdale House, Ampleforth; and Wold Cottage, Wold Newton. Self Catering Holiday of the Year finalists are Beech Farm Cottages, Pickering; Scott House, Pateley Bridge; and Street Head Farm, Skipton. Caravan Holiday Park of the Year competitors are Grange Park, Skipsea; Maustin Caravan Park, Wetherby; and Upper Carr Chalet & Touring Park, Pickering.

Visitor Attraction of the Year - under 100,000 visitors - has five competing finalists: Brodsworth Hall, Doncaster; Cannon Hall Open Farm, Barnsley; Embsay Steam Railway, Skipton; Skipton Castle, Skipton, and The World of James Herriot, Thirsk.

Visitor Attraction of the Year - 100,000 visitors and over is the subject of the keenest competition with as many as six venues competing - Harewood House, Leeds, National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford, The National Railway Museum, York; Pleasure Island, Cleethorpes; and Scarborough Sealife Centre, Scarborough.

Marketing Campaign of the Year finalists are Classic Car Group, Otley Helm, Askrigg Hull Tourism, North East Lincolnshire Council and Wellington Lodge Llamas, Staintondale. In line for the Conference Venue of the Year title are Harrogate International Centre; Jarvis Parkway Hotel, Wetherby; National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford; and

York Minster Conference & Banqueting Centre. Best Newcomer to Tourism finalists are Hull Navigators; Pennine Barnsley Tourism Forum; Street Head Farm, Skipton; Rotherham Walking Festival; and The World of James Herriot, Thirsk.
