Yorkshire have called up yet another young player for their top-of-the-table PPP healthcare Championship clash against Leicestershire at Headingley tomorrow.

Coming into the squad for the first time is 19-year-old right arm fast bowler Chris Elstub, who was born in Dewsbury and attended Whitcliffe Mount Secondary School at Cleckheaton.

Elstub replaces 17-year-old Gary Ramsden, who made his first class debut in Yorkshire's previous Championship match against Derbyshire at Derby a fortnight ago when his maiden wicket was that of experienced batsman Rob Bailey.

"Chris bowled impressively for the second team last week and at the moment we think he is showing even better form than Gary," said skipper David Byas.

"Whenever we need to pick a youngster he seems to do well for us and I have every confidence that Chris will be up to it if he makes his debut against Leicestershire in what is a very important match."

Elstub is on the Yorkshire Academy staff and, like Ramsden, has very limited second team experience.

He played in just one second XI Championship game for them last season when he captured four for 59 against Sussex Seconds at Headingley.

Already this season, Yorkshire have given first class debuts to four budding youngsters in Ramsden, Vic Craven, Simon Guy and Michael Lumb, all of whom have made significant contributions.

Yorkshire are keeping their fingers crossed that their apprentices can continue serving them well until some of their more experienced players are back in the side once again. That could well be in next week's Championship match against Durham at Riverside.

Darren Gough has already indicated he would like to play following the second Test against Zimbabwe, which starts on Thursday, and Craig White may also return if he has fully recovered after collapsing last week.

In addition, Michael Vaughan (hand), Anthony McGrath (knee) and Ryan Sidebottom (groin) could be ready for action, but Chris Silverwood (heel) may need longer.

Leicestershire provide unbeaten Yorkshire with their toughest test so far and have gone one point ahead of them at the top of the Division One table but Yorkshire hold the considerable advantage of having two games in hand.
