IN-FORM Australian Andrew Lambert helped York Wasps pick up their first win in two months yesterday then claimed: "Justice has been done at last."

The 23-year-old centre took his try tally to three in two games with a sparkling 50 metre effort as Batley Bulldogs were demolished 33-10 at Mount Pleasant.

It was the Wasps first win in 10 games - and only their fourth of the season - but Lambert believes caretaker coach Garry Atkins' efforts have deserved better reward.

"Everything seems to be coming together at last," said Lambert. "We've been a good team all year so it has been a let down. We've been putting a fair bit of work in in training and not getting justice.

"I think Garry should get the job for next year. At the start of the season everyone's confidence was down but then Garry came in and he actually coaches the players.

"He's got a good rapport and has got good knowledge but for the work he's put in he hasn't got the return."

Lambert struggled to live up to his reputation after arriving from Workington at the start of the season but is now beginning to show the form which earned him a place in the Scotland team last year.
