A psychic trader in York knew something was wrong with her shop premises when she got a funny feeling.

So Di Jarvis rushed back to the shop in Walmgate - to find it completely wrecked by a flood.

When Di arrived at her Pagan shop, Odyssey, she found it seriously damaged by the water which had come running through the ceiling from the flat above, at one stage reaching two to three inches deep.

She estimates the shop will be out of action for several weeks while repairs are carried out and replacement stock is ordered.

Di said: "It was my day off and I wasn't there.

"Everyone was trying to get hold of me but I was at the gym without my mobile phone.

"I was on my way back when I got this really strong urge to go in to the shop. I didn't really need to.

"I suppose some people would say it was a psychic feeling.

"I am psychic - that's my job. I do tarot readings and give constructive advice."

The insurance company was inspecting the shop today and Di thinks the repair bill is likely to be steep.

She said: "The carpet is completely ruined. It's going to stink and it will need to be replaced.

"The computer was on the floor so that is completely ruined as well as the stereo.

"There's loads of condensation on the shop windows and I expect the walls will be stained.

"Last night I went in and picked up some books and the windows were all steamed up. That's not going to help the books.

"There's quite a lot of other stuff which is going to be completely ruined like bath salts and bath bombs.

"I went in yesterday and just cried my eyes out."

A spokesman for York Police said: "There was a flood from the flat above.

"We forced entry and went in to find the shower had been left on. We turned it off and re-secured the property."
