York rock band Breathe celebrate winning the Fibbers/Evening Press Battle of the Bands 2000.
The band, led by flamboyant singer Justin Jamieson, who have reached the final of the contest in previous years, but never won, scooped prizes including £1,000 and a week's recording studio time.
They saw off the challenge of four other finalists, in a close-fought climax to the annual contest at Fibbers, in Stonebow, York, in front of a venue packed with music fans.
