DESIGN student Scott Edison is toasting his new career after creating this bed and side table using beer bottles and strip lighting.
Scott, who had to undertake the gruelling task of drinking not a few bottles of beer in the name of art, has won a job with the Helmsley-based firm, Bisca, as he leaves York College. The firm, which makes designer furniture has featured on TV programmes including the BBC's Homefront and has already taken 19-year-old Scott from Osbaldwick, York, to London to help install a £25,000 staircase at a firm of architects.
Scott's design work was one of the exhibits on show at York College's further and higher education site as part of an exhibition of students' work.
His teacher, Ed Poxon, course leader for HND Design and Crafts, said other final year HND students had come up with a range of work and all of them had got jobs or places on other courses.
